Gillie and Marc Wine Collection Murray River Victoria

Piangil Estate, situated in Victoria’s North West, is naturally blessed with generous irrigation offered by the Murray River.

The Murray river system is the world’s third longest navigable river in the world behind the Nile and Amazon. Irrigation from the Murray began as early as the 1880’s, and to this day the Murray Darling basin is often referred to as Australia’s “food bowl” for its yield and quality.

Some of Australia’s most successful wine exports benefit directly for the region’s naturally rich sandy loam soils, and the water and farm management practices established more than a century ago.

The nature, and nurturing of the Murray Darling, invaluably serves winemakers within this region to this day.
